Mumbai, Jan 23: Hollywood film “Journey 2: The Mysterious Island”, the sequel to 2008 hit “Journey to the Center of the Earth”, is all set to hit theatres in India on February 3, a week prior to its US release.

The digital 3D film, starring Hollywood A-listers Dwayne Johnson ‘The Rock', Josh Hutcherson, Luis Guzman, Vanessa Hudgens, Michael Caine and Kristin Davis, is releasing in India with 500 prints.

“India is becoming a very important market for Hollywood films over the years, which gives us more freedom in deciding the releases according to the competition and holidays here.  It is an increasing trend as “Tintin” also released in India before hitting the screens in the US,” Denzil Dias, Deputy Managing Director (Theatrical) of Warner Bros told PTI.

Dias also feels that the film will appeal to the Indian audience because it deals with family values, which is right at the heart of Indian culture.

The second installment of the adventure film begins when seventeen-year-old Sean Anderson receives a coded distress signal from a mysterious island where no island should exist.

Unable to stop him from tracking the signal to its source, Sean's new stepfather, Hank, joins the quest that will take them first to the South Pacific, and then to a place few people have ever seen.

Together with Gabato, the only helicopter pilot willing to risk the trip, and his daughter Kailani, they set out to find the island, rescue its lone human inhabitant and escape before seismic shockwaves force the island underwater.

The film is directed by Brad Peyton and will be released in India in English, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu across India.
