Patna: Amid the controversy over filmstar Aamir Khan's remarks, actor-politician Shatrughan Sinha today said he disapproved of India "being labelled intolerant" by him and others and asserted that the country was inherently peace loving.

"Am fond of Amir Khan & family. But wholeheartedly disapprove of the idea of India being labelled intolerant by him and others too," Shatrughan Sinha said on twitter.

"PK, where Hindu Gods&Goddess were made fun of in no uncertain terms wud not have seen such success if India was intolerant," he said in an another tweet.

"Our vast motherland is inherently & essentially peace loving and respectful of every caste, creed, religion and celebrates communal harmony," Sinha, who is BJP Lok Sabha member from Patna Sahib and has been outspoken in his criticism of party leadership, said. Sinha's comments have come amid raging protest over Aamir Khan's remarks on intolerance.

With his remarks expressing his "alarm and despondency" over the rise in recent incidents of intolerance hotly debated, Khan had again yesterday asserted that he stood by his comments and made it clear that neither he nor his wife Kiran Rao had any intention of leaving the country.
