New Delhi: Director Rohit Shetty, who is roaring high with blockbuster 'Singham Returns' along with Ajay Devgn, is said to be busy with his upcoming project with Shah Rukh Khan.
Ever since Shetty has finalised Khan for his upcoming film, speculations regarding the lead actress are doing the rounds.
Early in August, Rohit had confirmed the news saying, "So as per the reports, I am doing as many as nine films with Shah Rukh. I'd like to put all rumours to rest and say that only Shah Rukh has confirmed for my next film. No one else has been roped in as of now. The pre-production for the film has already started and it will go on floors next year."
After reports allegedly confirmed Kajol being a part of Rohit Shetty's upcoming film, now we hear that the commercial entertainer has approached Aishwarya Rai Bachchan to star alongside SRK in his next.
While Shah Rukh Khan is confirmed as the male lead the director is yet to lock in Aishwarya as SRK's leading lady.
As quoted by a leading website, the sources say that Rohit has been recently seen meeting Aishwarya Rai Bachchan to discuss the script for his upcoming project. However the actress has yet not given her final consent.
If Rohit succeeds in locking the stellar cast for his project, then SRK and Aishwarya will romance each other onscreen after 12 years. They were last seen together in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's 2002 film Devdas.
Shah Rukh and Aishwarya have featured together as siblings in 2000 film Josh and Aishwarya had also done a cameo role in Shah Rukh Khan's Mohabbatein, co-starring Amitabh Bachchan. She also appeared in the item number Ishq Kameena in SRK's film Shakti.
This will be Shah Rukh and Rohit's second project after 2013 superhit Chennai Express, which featured actress Deepika Padukone as the female lead.
Meanwhile, Aishwarya is all set for her comeback after a sabbatical of four years in Sanjay Gupta's Jazbaa opposite Irrfan Khan.
Regardless of all the rumours floating around, no confirmation has been made from either side.
But it would be really nice to see the Devdas couple setting the silver screen on fire once again.
