New Delhi: Aamir Khan-starrer PK has hit the theatres today and so, get ready for some record-smashing updates as one could expect from this last biggest flick of the year.

Released in around 6000 screens all over including 5200 in India, PK is set for a smashing opening day today looking at its occupancy in theatres. However, there is doubt over it to break Shah Rukh Khan's ‘Happy New Year' opening day record of Rs 44.97 cr since it was released on a holiday while the Rajkumar Hirani directorial is released on a usual day.

Still big numbers are expected on cards which should break Aamir Khan's Dhoom 3 opening day record of Rs 36.22 cr that stands as the second biggest opener of all time.

According to a leading daily, Delhi and Noida have opened well while Rajasthan, Raipur, Nagpur, Indore, Pune, Kolkata have shown a good response in the early shows. In Bihar and UP a decent occupancy is witnessed on the other hand, Mumbai is at its best at box office.

What adds to the advantage is that the movie is getting brilliant reviews from critics all over which should cater the audience, who were not willing to see or were relying upon the reviews, to make its way to the theatres.

Looking at the other opening day figures of the biggest blockbusters Shah Rukh Khan's Chennai Express stands at third position with Rs 33.12 cr net collection while Salman Khan's Ek Tha Tiger takes the fourth spot with Rs 32.93 cr nett amount.

Ajay Devgn's Singham Returns is the fifth biggest opener of all time with Rs 32.09 cr collection while Hrithik Roshan's ‘Bang Bang' and Salman Khan's ‘Kick' takes the sixth and seventh spot with Rs 27.54 cr and Rs 26.40 cr collection respectively.

Meanwhile, PK which also stars Anushka, Sushant in pivotal roles should make Rs 33 cr – Rs 35 cr by the end of the day while the least expected from it is over Rs 30 cr nett collection from India. Anything above it will be brilliant.
