New Delhi: The year 2014 didn't start off well as compared to last year, the box office didn't see a big fat turnaround but with PK hitting the screen in the last part of the quarter the balance sheet looks convincing.

The more was expected from Happy New Year, which at snail's rate just managed to touch the Rs 200 cr mark while Hrithik Roshan's Bang Bang failed to even touch that mark. If such big budgeted movies performed just good, the mediocre budgeted women-centric flicks like Queen and Mary Kom surprised and made into the top ten biggest grossers list of the year.

Here is the list of the top 10 biggest Bollwyood films of 2014:

PK movie review

PK- Aamir Khan's much anticipated comedy-drama "PK" stirred thought and discussion and struck gold at the box office too. Directed by Rajkumar Hirani, the movie by its second weekend earned Rs 236.58 cr nett in India and is the biggest grosser of the year while its still counting. The film, which used an alien, played by Aamir, to highlight the ills of society was made at a budget of Rs.110 crore.

Kick

Kick- The action-thriller starring Salman Khan was a big Eid release. Directed by debutant Sajid Nadiadwala, the audience loved the superstar's aggressive and in-your-face character in the film, which also featured Randeep Hooda, Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Jacqueline Fernandez. Made at a budget of Rs.100 crore, the movie minted Rs 233 cr.

And like his other Diwali releases such as "Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge" and "Dil To Pagal Hai", the Farah Khan directorial was a blockbuster. The movie, which also featured Deepika Padukone, Abhishek Bachchan, Boman Irani, Vivaan Shah and Sonu Sood, was made at a big budget of Rs.125 crore and minted Rs 203.30 cr at the domestic box office, however more was expected from it.

hrithik katrina meherbaan song

Bang Bang- Despite being tagged as "mindless", "loud", "dumb", "pointless" and "exhausting" by the critics, the Hrithik Roshan-Katrina Kaif-starrer was one of the biggest blockbusters of the year, collecting Rs179.80 cr. Made at a budget of more than Rs.100 crore, the Siddharth Anand directorial was prepared with ingredients like romance, jaw-dropping action sequences, peppy music and good looking actors.

Singham Returns

Singham Returns- Rohit Shetty's salute to Mumbai Police through ‘Singham Returns' was applauded by one and all. Starring Ajay Devgn and Kareena Kapoor Khan in the lead, Singham Returns hit the screens on Independence Day and went on to make the lifetime collection of Rs 141 cr nett in India.
