New Delhi: One of the most anticipated shows on television, Bigg Boss is known for its tough regime. From a complete cut-off from the outer world to managing with the least available food resources, the house takes its inmates through the most difficult period of their lives.

The one who survives this is a winner, in the literal sense. When celebrities habituated to a luxurious lifestyle live a deglamorised life, it keeps the audience glued to the screens.

While many wonder whether the show-makers selectively look for controversy creators, the reality doesn't seem to be that easy.

The show has strict rules that one has to adhere to in order to get entry in the house and during the stay.

Here are a few of them according to a leading daily. After signing the contract, these are to be followed strictly by the participants. Though some might seem to be perks, especially for lesser known celebrities, others are clearly disadvantages. Yet the celebrities choose to go through them, for money and visibility.

1) One of the most important rules of the house is that if a person has a criminal record, then before entering the house, he or she has to disclose all the charges/cases against them.

2) If a contestant flees from the house mid-way, without the permission of the makers, then he or she has to pay off a hefty fine.

3) Contestants do not have the right to choose what goes on air and what does not. It is the channel and production house's prerogative.

4) There is a strict clause that the contestants can't disclose anything after signing the contract. In fact the participants can't even plan strategies or have discussions once they are on board.

5) Celebs who sign the contract are made to give 117 days to the show – 100 days for shooting of the show and rest for preparations and promotions.

6) After the first two weeks on the show, the contestants are given weekly payments. Hence, apart from the exposure, it is also the hefty payouts that attract the inmates.

7) Though this is not confirmed, it is learnt that the inmates of the house are not allowed to bring any religious books or holy scriptures. All of it is provided by the producers.
