The film will face a mild competition with Shah Rukh Khan’s Raees and Hrithik Roshan’s ‘Kaabil’, which are already in their third week and doing decent business at the box office.
As both the high voltage movies clashed each other at the box office and still managed to the 100 cr club, it is almost certain that Akshay’s film, given the circumstances, will flair at the box office.
The next big project to hit the silver screen is ‘Badrinath Ki Dulhania’ starring Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt is scheduled for next month release. So, ‘Jolly LLB 2’ would almost run without any tough competition for the next three weeks at the box office.
Next Friday release, ‘The Ghazi Attack’, featuring Rana Daggubati and Taapsee Pannu will hardly be any competition for Khiladi Kumar, a bankable star.
His last three movies ‘Airlift’, ‘Rustom’ and ‘Houseful 3’, all released in 2016, made entry to the Rs 100 crore club. The actor has become the success formulae for hit movies. Thus, looking at his records it becomes easy for the directors to put their money on him and reap benefits.
Jolly LLB 2’ has got almost 3200 screens, around 600 screens more than Raees and 700 more than Kaabil. Besides, being a Valentine week would also be beneficial for the business.
Even the star himself is leaving no stone unturned to make this film his another hit. From grooving on his famous songs to updating every information on social media, Akshay is doing everything to keep movie buffs hooked. Thus, a lot is being expected from this film.
Lately ‘Jolly LLB 2’ made many headlines when it embroiled in a legal controversy. Knowing that how well controversies can work in favour of the Bollywood movies, this film has a plus point.
People these days were much aware about the cuts ordered by Bombay HC that defame the Indian Judicial system. The makers even withdrew their plea from the apex court to avoid further trouble.
Previously movies like ‘Udta Punjab’, ‘Ram-Leela’, ‘OMG’ have also faced controversies that in one way or another has worked in their favour.
The trailer of ‘Jolly LLB 2’ looked promising. Akshay’s black robe debut combined with Annu Kapoor’s strong arguments and humorous dialogues indicated that the flick can be Khiladi Kumar’s fourth 100 crore movie in a row.
The film is the sequel of 2013 film ‘Jolly LLB’ that not only hear good words from the audience but also won National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Hindi. But, as far as numbers are concerned, the film lacked there. The prequel had Arshad Warsi in lead role.
This time makers changed the protagonist to make the movie a commercial success.
So far the wind, seems, to be in favour of Jolly LLB 2, but the real verdict viewers will give in days to come.
