Why the title Tubelight?

Many found the title of the film rather intriguing. According to reports, Salman essays the role of a man with special needs. He reportedly plays a man-child who is slow in picking and learning things, thus presumably earning the moniker of Tubelight. Despite his shortcomings, the character sets out on an unimaginable journey to find his brother (Sohail Khan), who has gone missing post the Indo-China war.

The little kid  Matin Rey Tangu has already created quite a buzz on the internet after viewers caught a glimpse of him with Salman Khan. With interest piquing around the six-year-old’s role in the film, director Kabir Khan revealed how they zeroed in on Matin for the role.

Kabir said that casting the child actor was no mean feat. He added that they didn’t set out on looking for an actor, but were seeking a wonderful child artiste who had the spunk and ability to withstand a 100-day shoot. Like a perfect icing on cake, Madhuri Dixit and Salman’s popular slingshot scene from Hum Aapke Hain Kaun will be recreated in Tubelight, according to a Spotboye report. However, the only difference is that Madhuri will be replaced by a six-year- old child artiste Matin Rey Tangu.

The report suggests that the revelation was made by none other than the filmmaker Kabir Khan himself. He was quoted as saying. “The kid (Matin) always carries a slingshot with him. It's one of his quirks. Let's call it evolution; Madhuri has been replaced by Matin now! It was almost coincidental that such a scene be recreated in Tubelight.”

Tubelight is one of the most awaited films of the year and marks the third collaboration of Salman and Kabir after Bajrangi Bhaijaan and Ek Tha Tiger.  Several film experts have already said that the Salman Khan film can break Baahubali 1: The Conclusion’s record at the box-office.
