Salman Khan's Sultan wins Best Action Movie Award at Shanghai film festival

On Friday, Salman Khan’s most anticipated movie Tubelight released in India. Unexpectedly, the Kabir Khan directorial managed to get lukewarm response from the audience as well as critics. Despite the strong star power and amazing story, Tubelight lacks soul. Set in small hill town of Northern India, it is a story of a man who’s unshakeable belief and love for family make the impossible happen. As Tubelight trails in Indian cinema, there’s good news for the ‘Bhai’ fans. Earlier this month, Salman Khan’s Sultan was shortlisted to compete for top honours at Shanghai International Film Festival. A news broke today that it managed to win the Best Action Movie Award at the prestigious festival.

On Sunday morning, famous film trade analyst tweeted the news on his Twitter account. He also told that Sultan will release in China later this year. The festival is being held in China from June17-26.

Ali Abbas Zafar, the Director of the film said, "As a film, Sultan is a home-grown story of a fighter and an underdog rooted in our country's soil. The film's action reflects this and has won popular opinion over in India. That China, a nation with a proud legacy of cinema and a priceless heritage of classic action and martial arts, has found it suitable to feature in an action competition section is a huge gratification to us,"

Zafar says, "We are very happy with all the love and respect we got at SIFF. Receiving an award under the action category from Jackie Chan is just super special. As a child, he has been one of the most inspiring action stars for me and many Indians.

Salman Khan has recently appeared in Kabir Khan’s Tubelight along with brother Sohail Khan, Chinese actress Zhu Zhu and the five-year-old Matin Rey Tangu from Arunachal Pradesh. Anushka Sharma will appear in Imtiaz Ali’s ‘Jab Harry Met Sejal’ opposite Shah Rukh Khan in August. Ali Abbas Zafar is busy shooting for ‘Tiger Zinda Hai’ with Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif in the lead.

A sports drama, the movie features Salman in the role of a wrestler and is paired with Anushka Sharma
