New Delhi: Salman Khan’s appointment as the Goodwill brand ambassador of Indian contingent at Rio Olympics 2016, sparked off a new controversy. A few athletes opposed the selection of Bollywood celebrity being the face of such an important event.

Since Saturday, many celebs have given their opinion on the entire issue. From Salman’s father Salim Khan coming out in his support, to Pooja Bedi slamming papa Khan for giving insensitive comments about athletes.

Amidst all this, Salman’s ex flame Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has voiced her support for him. Aishwarya at a recent event said,

“It is good that Salman is promoting sports. Any kind of promotion for sports and art is always better.”

Salman and Aishwarya’s affair in past still continues to be a favourite topic for gossipmongers and with her latest statement; Mrs Bachchan has given them more fodder.

As it happens, Salman Khan is still a craze among his ex girlfriends. Earlier in the day, another one of his exes, actress Katrina Kaif in his support said,

“Is this a new thing that Salman’s name is embroiled in a controversy?”

Sportspersons like athlete Yogeshwar Dutt and sprint legend Milkha Singh had condemned Salman’s appointment as Goodwill ambassador. Dutt had tweeted,

“Tell me what the task of an ambassador is? Why are you fooling the nation?”

Though, Salman found support in Olympic gold medallist Abhinav Bindra who said,

“Cricket and Bollywood garners the maximum attention in India. If Salman is promoting Olympics then it is a good strategy.”
