Rakhee Gulzar, one of the talented actresses of the Hindi film industry, has turned a year older today. In her four decades long acting career, the veteran actress has delivered many powerful roles. She started her acting career with Bengali film Badhu Baran. In 1970, she did her first Hindi film Jeevan Mrityu alongside actor Dharmendra. After working in films like Sharmilee, Lal Patthar and Paras, the lady became an established actress. She got the opportunity to work with renowned actors like Rajesh Khanna, Shashi Kapoor, Amitabh Bachchcan and Dev Anand.
In one of her interviews in the past, the lady revealed that Rajesh Khanna and Shashi Kapoor were her favourite co-stars.
In late 1980s and 1990s, the lady took up some challenging roles of the elderly mother and left many teary-eyed with her performance in some of her films. One of her outstanding performance came when she portrayed the mother of superstars Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan in 1995 movie Karan Arjun. She not only did justice to her role but her dialogue, ‘Mere Karan Arjun Aayenge’ became very popular.
Rakhee’s last film came in Shubho Mahurat, which won her the National Film Award for Best Supporting Actress. After that the lady took retirement from the industry.
The veteran actress looks totally different and unrecognisable these days but she is still everybody’s favourite.
