63 children have lost their lives in Gorakhpur’s BRD Medical college in the last 48 hours amid allegations that a private supplier stopped the supply of oxygen from the oxygen cylinders over a payment dispute, and the hospital is in chaos. It is a sad moment for the nation. Several patients started collapsing one after the other due to inadequate supply of oxygen.

Several Bollywood celebs took to Twitter to express their sorrow on this unfortunate incident. Riteish Deshmukh questioned the responsibility of Indian citizens in one of his three tweets that he posted on Twitter. “Incredible India or Irresponsible India ??? What are we becoming ???”, the Bank Chor actor tweeted.

"Shocked and horrified by the #GorakhpurTragedy. Can't imagine the loss and pain the families must be going through. No words", Neha Dhupia wrote.

Filmmaker Shekhar Kapur said, "62 mothers trusted hospital to care for their child. 62 children died. 62 desperate mothers want answers. Does India care?"

The deaths are being blamed to be caused by the deadly infection encephalitis as well as disruption of oxygen supply in medical wards.Encephalitis is an acute inflammation of brain which is caused by either viral infection or immune system attacking the brain tissue. In US alone, this deadly disease is responsible for approx 19,000 hospitalization and $650 million in hospitalization costs. 15% of encephalitis cases are seen among HIV-infected population.
