Actress Vidya Balan starrer Begum Jaan is all set to hit the screens tomorrow but the film might not be screened in Pakistan. Producer Mahesh Bhatt, who was upset with the news revealed that the neighbouring country doesn’t release films that deal with the issue of partition.

Mahesh revealed to a leading daily that his distributor informed him that Pakistan doesn’t screen films that are set against the back drop of partition. Bhatt added that he made a request to an officer of the Pakistan censor board to watch the film but he didn’t get any revert from their side.

He said, “My distributor informs me that his office has been intimated that Begum Jaan won't be imported into Pakistan.”

Few days back, superstar Aamir Khan reportedly refused to make two cuts suggested by the Pakistan Censor Board. Thus, the film was not screened in the country. The portions showing the Indian flag and National Anthem in Dangal were asked to remove.

Taapsee Pannu starrer Naam Shabana and Akshay Kumar’s Jolly LLb 2 were also banned in Pakistan.

On a related note, Begum Jaan is the Hindi remake of Bengali film Rajkahini. Directed by Srijit Mukherji, the movie also features Naseeruddin Shah, Chunky Pandey, Ila Arun, Gauahar Khan in prominent roles.
