Superstar Akshay Kumar’s ‘Rustom’ is continuing its dream run at the box office. It did record breaking business in the extended weekend. With seven days since its release, Rustom has so far minted Rs 90.90 crore at the box office in India.

Tinu Suresh Desai’s directorial has become the second highest grosser of week one, after Salman’s Khan ‘Sultan’. With such fantastic collections, ‘Rustom’ will easily enter the coveted Rs 100 crore club by its second weekend.

Undoubtedly, ‘Rustom’ is a hit, but will it become the biggest hit of Khiladi Kumar’s career.

It may.

In a career spanning over two decades, Akshay Kumar’s highest grossing movie is ‘Rowdy Rathore’. Released in 2012 and helmed by Prabhudeva, ‘Rowdy Rathore’ earned Rs 132 crore in India.

Given the pace ‘Rustom’ has gained, it would be possible that it surpasses ‘Rowdy Rathore’.

Another factor which might help ‘Rustom’ is the free run it is seeing at the box office. Its competitor at the box office ‘Mohenjo Daro’ has put down its weapons at the clash. The  movie has minted close to Rs 50 crores in the first week and is reportedly running in empty theatres these days. This Friday’s release ‘Happy Bhaag Jaayegi’ too will supposedly cripple in front of Akshay’s stardom. Though this rom-com has received good reviews, the buzz around ‘Rustom’ refuses to die away.

This weekend, therefore, is quite crucial in deciding if ‘Rustom’ will defeat ‘Rowdy Rathore’ or no.

As soon as ‘Rustom’ enters the Rs 100 crore club, it will become Akshay’s sixth movie to achieve this feat. With this Khiladi Kumar will equal Shah Rukh Khan and will be second only to Salman (who has 10 movies in the list.)
