Aamir Khan, who is currently enjoying the success of Dangal in China, has teamed up with producers Siddharth Roy Kapur and Ronnie Screwvala for his upcoming film Salute. The movie is a biopic on India's first astronaut Rakesh Sharma. The project will be jointly produced by Aamir, Screwvala and Kapur under their banners AKP, RSVP and Roy Kapur Films respectively, read a statement from the film's publicist.
Reports also suggest that Aamir’s on-screen daughter Fatima Sana Shaikh will also be a part of the movie. “Fatima has been finalised for the biopic and she will essay the role of Aamir’s wife in the film”, a BollywoodLife source was quoted as saying. The source further said that Aamir has asked the actress to grow her hair back after Thugs of Hindostan. “Fatima will start prepping for her role soon after she completes the YRF film”, the source added.
Salute will be Aamir's second biopic after the grand success of "Dangal". The biopic will be helmed by Mahesh Mathai. Aamir has worked with both the producers for films like "Rang De Basanti", "Delhi Belly", "PK" and "Dangal".
On the career front, Aamir Khan was last seen in Dangal which was based on the real-life struggles of wrestler Mahavir Singh Phogat. The film garnered huge success at the Indian Box Office. It has also taken the Chinese Box Office by storm by crossing Rs 1,000 crore mark. He is also busy with Vijay Krishna Acharya's Thugs of Hindostan, which also stars Amitabh Bachchan and Katrina Kaif. The film went on the floors in Malta earlier this month.
