Shirdi (Maha): A 24-year-old youth was today arrested for allegedly kidnapping and raping a minor girl, police said.

The accused identified as Ariff Akbar Sheikh, a resident of Inamwadi near here, had lured the 14-year-old girl into marriage and kidnapped her on September 9 and took her to Vaijapur in Aurangabad district, where he raped her, police said.

The victim was located by her family and an FIR was filed against the Sheikh.

Akbar Sheikh has been booked under the section 376 (rape), 363 (kidnapping) of the IPC, among others, as well as Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012.
