Gurgaon, Jan 12: Sinsy Sebastian, a 23-year-old trainee software designer from Kerala, was found murdered on Wednesday in her paying guest accomodation in  E Block of  DLF-3 locality.

She worked as a trainee software designer in HIPL, Udyog Vihar, Gurgaon and had been living alone.

Maheshwar Dayal, DCP,  East Gurgaon said, “Police got the call at around 1:30 pm. The victim was found lying in a pool of blood. The PG owner made a PCR call after she did not see her for the entire day.

"She had opened the door with a duplicate key as the door was locked from inside. The deceased's body was found with multiple stab wounds. A blood stained knife was recovered from the spot.

"Prima facie, it appears that her throat was slit with the help of the knife, which caused her death.

"However, we are waiting for the autopsy reports to ascertain the exact cause of the death. A team has been constituted to look into the matter. The colleagues and neighbours of the deceased will be questioned.”

The girl's laptop is  missing. A cell phone has been recovered from the spot. Police is tracing the call details  from the cellphone.

Initial investigations point to an insider-job, as the entry inside her room was friendly.

The murderer had locked up the door to avoid any kind of suspicion.

This clearly indicates that the accused was known to the victim and must have entered the room with her permission, Dayal added.

“We are scanning all the details including her friends, colleagues and other persons who used to visit her or even meet her outside and at her accommodation. We have informed the family members of the deceased and further details can be probed thereafter,” said an investigating officer.

Though the motive behind the murder is yet to be ascertained, it seems the assailant(s) was known to the victim as there was no evidence of struggle at the crime scene, police said.

The police have also recovered a 6-inch long knife from the spot and found the shop in the area from where it was purchased. However, the police are yet to disclose the identity of the shop and the person who had bought the knife

Sebistian came to Gurgaon in November 2010 and joined software development firm HIPL situated in Udyog Vihar Phase 5.

She stayed with her aunt Ambija in block U, DLF Phase 3 till June 2011. Cincy's mother is a nurse and her father works with a private company in Trivandrum. She was their only child.

“She was not well-versed in Hindi but was very friendly. She stayed with me for some time as she was new to the city. After staying with me for some time, she moved out as she wanted to be on her own. She went home on December 12 as she was unwell and returned on January 3,” Ambija said.

Cincy's cellphone records show that the last call was made at 11am and she didn't answer her phone after that.
