Identified as Anishka, local police here said that the woman took the extreme step following a tiff with her husband Aditya Kumar, police said.
The incident took place on Tuesday night at around 1 am in the Vinayak Apartment in Vaishali Sector 9.
"Anishka had a fight with her husband over not wishing him on his birthday. Moments after the argument, Anishka jumped from the fifth floor of the Vinayak Apartment, Vimal Shrivastav, a senior sub inspector of Indirapuram police station, told reporters.
She was taken to the nearest hospital, Vasundhara Hospital in Vaishali, where doctors declared her brought dead.
Police said that Aditya, who is a professor in Indraprastha Engineering College, and Anishka had a love marriage two years ago.
According to data available with the Indirapuram police station, this is third instance of a suicide in the vicinity over the past fortnight. A total of 33 people, including 14 women, have committed suicide since January this year.
