Accused Rubi Tudu (30) was arrested yesterday and sent to jail today, Officer-in-charge of Raneshwar Police Station Yadu Sau said.
The incident happened on last Friday night when accused Rubi poured boiling oil on her sleeping husband Robet Murmu (38), Sau said.
A severely-injured Robet ran out of his house and took a plunge in a nearby pond and then after a brief relief went to a neighbour's place and narrated the incident to seek his help for medical treatment, the OC said.
The neighbour then took him to the village chief, who directed Robet's father-in-law to take care of his medical treatment, he said.
Robet, who was under a quack's treatment, succumbed to his injuries in the wee hours on Monday, Sau said.
Rubi told police that Robet was staying at his in-laws' place and was not working and that led to frequent fights between them. And on Friday night the couple, who had three daughters, had a brawl over the issue, which forced Rubi to commit the crime.
