New York, Jun 26: Former First Lady of France, Carla Bruni-Sarkozy and her husband President Nicolas Sarkozy have been out of politics for a little more than a year and while promoting her new album in New York Tuesday (25 JUNE 2013), Bruni says "It's nice to leave public life."

"It's nice to leave actually the stress of the weight and the responsibilities that is nice. It's a relief because you can go into a more relaxed family life and a more relaxed life in general. It's really nice."

Sarkozy lost the 2012 Presidental election to Socialist Francois Hollande by just 3.2 percentage points.

Since leaving office though, a number of polls reported he could beat Hollande in another election.

Bruni dismissed the idea as more something to become fodder for the media.

"Well, is not at all something that...it's not current. You know? It's not something that...I don't think we can really talk about it today because it's not...He's working a lot as a lawyer my husband so he goes on with his life. We go on with our life. Politics are a special world with special rules and so there's no...they talk about it but it's just to fill up I guess the press a little bit, you know?"

Bruni and Sarkozy were married in 2008.
