Bhadohi (UP): Three child labourers were rescued by the labour department during a raid at a carpet manufacturing unit in Kotwali area, a senior officer said today.
The department carried out a raid at the carpet manufacturing unit owned by Nasrullah Ansari near Nai Bazar last evening and rescued three child workers, Assistant Labour Commissioner R K Srivastava said.
Ansari managed to escape from the spot and a case has been lodged against him at Kotwali police station. All the three children, who hail from Araria district in Bihar, are in the 10-12 age group, he said.
Srivastava said that medical examination of rescued children is underway.
Bhadohi is famed for its hand knotted carpet weaving industry.
