Robbers loot passengers in 6 sleeper coaches of Howrah-Delhi Express

Mughalsarai, Sep 15: In a chilling case of train robbery, masked robbers armed with firearms and knives on Saturday morning looted more than 200 passengers travelling in six sleeper coaches of Howrah-Delhi Express on the Gaya-Sasaram section. 




The robbers boarded the train at Gaya Junction, and as soon as the train left at around 3 am, the robbers went on a looting spree.

Brandishing guns and knives, the robbers began snatching cash and valuables from most of the passengers, and did not spare the old, the women and the children.  

A few passengers tried to resist. The robbers stabbed one of them, and he was admitted to the Divisional railway hospital in Mughalsarai.  

The robbers did not even spare the Travelling Ticket Examiner, and took away cash from him.  

One of the passengers, Dineshwar Mahatao said: "There were some RPF men on the train  till Gaya, but during the robbery, none of the RPF guards were seen."

The robbery went on for two hours, till the train reaached Mughalsarai. The robbers escaped midway.  

Passengers at Mughalsarai staged protests over lack of security on the train.
