New Delhi: In yet another sensational revelation in the Delhi Uber cab rape case, it has been disclosed that the accused had tried to kill the victim by strangling her .

A senior police official while citing the medical report said that accused Shiv Kumar Yadav had beaten the 27-year-old victim brutally after she tried to raise an alarm and then committed rape.

The victim sustained serious injuries on her face and lips after Shiv punched her, a senior police official said.

The accused, however, according to police, during the interrogation, refused to confess that he had beaten the lady.

The incident took place at around 9:30 pm when the woman, who works for a finance company in Gurgaon, was headed back to her home in north Delhi's Inderlok area.

The woman had gone to a restaurant for dinner with some friends after her shift ended at 7 pm. One of her friends dropped her till Vasant Vihar from where she hired a cab run by a private company to take her to Inderlok.

The accused after committing rape,  dropped the victim near her home in Inderlok and threatened to kill if she revealed the matter to anybody.

Police said that Shiv had parked the cab near a park in the Inderlok- Keshav Puram vicinity.

Meanwhile, Delhi Police has slapped a case of forgery against the taxi driver. He is presently in the police custody.
