Parents of the nine-year-old girl alleged that she was playing outside the home of Sher Mohammad when he took her inside on some pretext and tried to rape her, said Gorakhnath Yadav, Station House Officer of Samgam Vihar area.

A case has been registered and the girl was sent for medical examination, the police officer said, adding that the accused is absconding.

Adequate security force has been deployed to maintain peace in the area, the SHO said.
