Ghaziabad: A man strangled his lover and then shot himself near here, police said Saturday.

The incident occurred Friday night. The bodies of 25-year-old Amit and 22-year-old Priyanka were found in a house at the DLF Colony in Sahibabad near here Saturday.

Police said Amit stays in Tahirpur near G.T.B. Enclave in east Delhi but had come to his employer's flat at the DLF Colony.

He called his girlfriend there and they had a scuffle. Amit strangled her and then shot himself.

Priyanka, who hails from Meerut, was staying with a cousin in Vaishali area to prepare for a bank examination.

Police said it was not clear how she came in contact with Amit.

After residents heard a shot being fired, they informed police who reached the spot around 2 a.m. Saturday and found both the bodies on a bed.

Priyanka's body had strangulation marks around her neck, while Amit's body had a bullet injury on his head.
