Mumbai: The Extradition Cell of the Mumbai Police's Crime Branch has arrested a man in connection with the killing of Wendy Albano, a socialite and celebrity-interior designer from USA.

The Mumbai Police in a statement said that the arrested accused has been identified as 28-year-old Ritesh Sanghvi.

The 52-year-old was found murdered in a room of hotel Fraser Suites Sukhumvit in Bangkok on February 13, 2012. She was stabbed in the neck and stomach.

The initial investigation at that time suspected that Ritesh (Albano's Indian boyfriend) could be behind this brutal murder as they had checked into the hotel on February 9.

According to Mumbai Police, the arrested accused and the designer had met via Facebook in 2010 and since then, the latter had visited Mumbai twice to meet Ritesh.

The Mumbai Police also said that it had received an arrest warrant against Ritesh issued by the Special Extradition Court at Patiala House in New Delhi.

Police further said that Ritesh's father had filed a mission complaint at the DB Marg police station in Mumbai after he had gone missing on February 8, 2012.

The police, acting on a tip-off, found that Ritesh was residing in Gangakhed city of Parbhani district in Maharashtra by changing his identity as Rananjay. He was running a mobile shop, Kaveri Mobile, at a rented place, police said.
