The incident took place in their Borivali residence on Thursday night.
On Friday morning, the lady ayurvedic doc called the police saying that her husband Tushar had died of an electric shock while repairing a fan on Thursday night.
Borivli police registered an Accidental Death Report (ADR), but when the autopsy report came from Bhagwati Hospital on Saturday morning, it revealed strangulation as the cause of death, and that he had fractured his skull before his death.
According to the police, the couple entered a heated argument after Tushar, a decorator by profession, demanded sex a second time that night, to which Pragya objected.
During their fight she pushed Tushar, an alcoholic, who lost his balance and hit his head hard on the wall, and collapsed onto the floor.
It was here that Dr Pragya strangled him using a towel.
The two had been married for the past 20 years and have a daughter aged 18 years. Tushar hailed from Karnataka, while Pragya's hometown is in Gujarat.
According to police, Pragya kept on changing her statements to mislead the police.
It was only after the officials informed her about the autopsy report that Pragya broke down and confessed to her crime. Bloodstained clothes were recovered from her residence.
Pragya was produced in Borivli court and remanded to police custody till June 20.
