Mumbai: Khar Police have arrested 34-year-old Javed Khan, resident of Chennai, on charge of duping several artistes in Bollywood by promising them roles in films.

Dattatrey Bhargude, Senior Police Inspector, Khar police station, said, Javed Khan used to introduce himself as the owner of Blue Bird company dealing in construction and entertainment, and used to lure artistes by promising them work in Bollywood films.

He had a lavish lifestyle and posed himself as a Bollywood film director, said Bhargude.

Javed Khan used to target hi-profile artistes. He came to Mumbai in April last year from Delhi and met several artistes to promise them work in films. He used to move around with 10 private bodyguards, police said.

Among those duped were a Bollywood choreographer Swaroop raj Medura, who acted as a judge in Marathi reality show. Police said, he had taken Medura's Rs 25 lakh worth Volkswagen car for personal use, but in September, he vanished with the car.
