Molestation case registered against former Delhi Police officer

New Delhi:  A former Delhi Police SHO who is now posted in Rashtrapati Bhavan has been booked on the charges of molesting a survivor of gang rape in Karawal Nagar area of Northeast Delhi.

Raman Jha, who was previously a station house officer (SHO) of Karawal Nagar police station, has been booked at the same station.

According to the police, an FIR for molestation was registered recently only after the woman approached the Delhi Police Commissioner and gave her complaint in writing to him.

In her complaint, the woman has that said she had registered a case of gang-rape on June 6 at Karawal Nagar police station, said the police.

"In her complaint, she had named three persons in connection with the case. She also alleged that during the investigation of this case, she approached the then SHO Jha and sought his help. The victim also alleged that the accused SHO gave her a soft drink laced with sedative and thereafter, he allegedly molested her and later, he also sent obscene messages on her phone," said a senior police official.

Moreover the official said that, "Jha, who is now posted in security at the Rashtrapati Bhavan, has been registered under appropriate sections of the IPC and ACP is investigating the case."

Police is investigating the allegations made by the gang-rape survivor and will be interrogating Jha soon.
