Ambala: A fast track court in Ambala is likely to hear a plea tomorrow morning of a 16-year-old girl, who is seeking its permission to terminate the unwanted pregnancy.  Last week, in the application moved by her parents, the girl had requested Special Fast Track Court of Bimlesh Tanwar that she be permitted to abort the foetus.

The plea of the victim has been moved in the case in which the accused Surjit Kumar and seven others are facing trial in the same court under various sections of IPC including rape (376) and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO Act).

For the time being, Surjit has also filed a petition in the local civil court seeking injunction for not letting the victim to go for abortion claiming that they were legally married.  The court today recorded the girl's statement and would hear the arguments of the counsel of the accused tomorrow morning before passing an order.

According to the girls counsel, the accused had taken the victim to Karnal on April 5 on the pretext of marriage, following which her parents had lodged a missing complaint with police.  The counsel further said the victim was rescued by police on July 18 after raiding many locations and was brought back to her parents.

The accused has been arrested and are in judicial custody since then.
