"Premnath Prasad was arrested Tuesday for allegedly raping a mentally challenged woman who was admitted earlier in a hospital where the man works as a group D staffer," said Joint Commissioner (Crime) Pallab Kanti Ghosh.
The incident happened late Monday night. As he was fleeing after committing the offence, some of the staff saw him and raised an alarm.
A police complaint was filed Tuesday morning following which Prasad was arrested.
Medical tests on the victim will be conducted Wednesday.
