Surat: In a shocking incident, a married woman in Rander Town locality has alleged that she was blackmailed and y gangraped by nearly fifty men in Surat over a period of six months.

According to police, the woman used to stay with her husband and children near a pharmacy belonging to a doctor in Rander Town locality.

The victim alleged that six months ago, the doctor's family went out for an excursion for four days, and asked her to provide fodder to their goats.

The woman alleged that one day when she went to give fodder to the goats, she was raped by three men. They were helped by 5-6 other people, who filmed the video of gangrape. They blackmailed her by saying they would post the video on social media, the victim alleged.
 
Under threat of blackmail, the victim alleged, she was raped for the last six months by nearly 50 persons at least six times.
 
Police have registered an FIR against three persons and 47 other "unknown persons".

When the woman narrated her ordeal to her husband, the latter consoled her and took her to senior police officials to file the FIR.
 
When police asked the victim why she did not disclose these incidents earlier, she replied that the rapists threatened to kill her husband and children.

As soon as this gangrape incident cameto light, several thousand protesters went out on the streets of Surat demanding justice.

Surat police have started  investigation and hope to arrest the fifty accused as soon as possible.

Several thousand protesters from all over the state came out in a rally demanding speedy action from the police.
