Mathura: A man stabbed his wife in a court in Uttar Pradesh's Mathura district on Friday.

Laxmi Devi, a mother of three children, is now battling for her life in a hospital in Agra after her husband purportedly slit her throat and stabbed her several times in the court, police said.

Her husband Prem Pal Singh was a retired armyman who has been arrested after the victim's brother and the court intervened to protect her.

The couple had approached the court more than a month ago, in a domestic violence case filed against them.  Not only the murder case but even a dowry case is also pending against the accused Prem Pal Singh.
