Shrikant Bhardwaj, who was a medical representative, and three others drove out some drunkards from a house in the area when they were trying to drag out the woman on Tuesday evening. The woman's husband was not at home when the incident took place.
But, the assailants came back armed with rods and sticks and attacked Bhardwaj and others. Bhardwaj succumbed to head injuries at the Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences here the same night.
Senior Superintendent of Police Saket Kumar Singh said two main accused were arrested following an FIR lodged against one named person and several unknown.
