Man arrested for duping railways job seekers

Lucknow: The special task force (STF) of Uttar Pradesh Police has arrested a person for duping job seekers after creating a fake Railway Recruitment Board website, a senior officer said here today.  

According to Senior Superintendent of Police (STF) Amit Pathak, the task force, which was investigating a case based on an FIR lodged at Sisamau police station in Kanpur, arrested Shivendu Madhav from Krishna Nagar area.  

Shivendu was part of a gang which was extorting money from job job seekers in the name of application fees by creating a fake website of Railway Recruitment Board, Bhopal.  The STF officer said though having a formal education up to high school, Shivendu was an expert in developing software.  

He said the gang developed a fake website of RRB, Bhopal and posted advertisement for recruitment for different posts.  The gang had so far collected Rs 13 lakh as application fees, which had been blocked before it was transferred to Shivendu's account.

The SSP said that the blocked amount would be returned to the applicants, who made online payment.  He said RRB, Bhopal and Kanpur police have been informed about Shivendu's arrest.
