Mumbai: A 59-year-old man was found dead on the railway tracks near Ambernath station on the central line in Mumbai, police said Sunday morning.

Police said that the deceased was booked for sexually assaulting a nine-year old girl.

A case of sexual abuse was filed against the accused on September 1, police said, adding that since then he was absconding.

He had worked with the Ambernath Municipal Council and sold fried snacks at Ambernath (W).

Police had also slapped several sections of the Protection of Children against Sexual Offences Act.

Police also said that relatives of the victim had visited accused's family several times and requested them to handover him to the police.
