Till noon, the robbers were trying to escape and wander around the Bakhqatvarpur, Alipur and Narela districts of Delhi but, to their misfortune, Delhi police traced their car.
At last PCR vans surround the robbers' vehicle but they managed to escape leaving behind the looted bags in the car itself. Jewelry owner has thanked the policemen for their quick action.
However, Delhi police now face the uphill task to catch the robbers as soon as possible.
The robbery happened last night on the outskirts of Delhi in the Alipur area on National Highway No. 1. Jeweler Surender Gupta's employees were coming from Punjab to Delhi with jewelry worth Rs. 1.5 crore with them.
Robbers overtook the car and looted the jewelry from the employees. They were carrying base ball bats and looted away the cash, diamonds and silver jewelry worth Rs 1.5 crore. Robbers even take away the mobile phones of the employees and abscond from the scene.
Soon after the incident, Delhi Police came in action and started the search operation and imposed curfew on the city outskirts. Policemen traced the robbers' car via looted mobile phones and finally
Sanjay Kumar, DCP (outer Delhi) says: “Robbers flee off leaving behind the car. They failed to take away the looted jewelry and we have recovered it all.”
Jeweler Surendra Gupta is happy as the entire lot of jewelry is recovered by the police.
“All thanks to Delhi police who have shown quick action, otherwise it would have difficult to get back the stolen jewelry,” says jeweler Surender Gupta.
Delhi police has taken the hold of the car and recovered the stolen jewelry. Now, the main task for the police is to catch the robbers. It is believed that police has collected several evidences from the car and the robbers' would soon be nabbed and arrested.
