Thane: A young couple from Bhiwandi whose love affair was opposed by their family members committed suicide, the Bhiwandi police said here yesterday.

Police inspector V P Bhingardive of Bhiwandi police station told PTI that the postmortem report stated that their death was due to poisoning.

The police has registered a case of accidental death in connection with their deaths, the police said.

The girl had come to the neighbouring village to her sister's house for a village fair and developed initimacy with a boy in the neighbourhood.
