Retired bank manager in Bangalore killed for 200-year-old uncut diamond necklace

Bangalore: Uday Raj Singh, 63, a bank manager who had retired from State Bank of Mysore, owned an antique 200-year-old diamond necklace, said to be worth between Rs 40 lakh to Rs 60 lakhs.  Singh was however demanding Rs 12 crore for the uncut diamonds necklace.


He gave an online ad to sell this antique necklace, but it cost his life on Tuesday.

A gang of seven robbers who posed as diamond dealers went to his home and stabbed him to death. They also stabbed his wife Sushilamma, 59, during the robbery.  She is currently undergoing treatment in a city hospital.

Uday Raj Singh had once acted in a Kannada film. He used to talk about this 200-year old necklace having uncut diamonds for the last several years. He kept this necklace in his house and used to show this to prospective buyers.
