A case has been registered against the accused, Bernard, under sections of POCSO and IPC, they said.
The teacher is yet to be arrested.
"As per the victim's statement, the teacher had first molested her on August 11 on some pretext.
"The girl told her parents about it, who then approached the school to take action against the errant teacher," said a police official.
The victim's parents claim that the school authorities did not pay any heed to their complaints, he said.
Meanwhile, Bernard allegedly again molested the girl in the first week of April, following which the family contacted the police.
According to the police, the girl's parents called them this morning and complained that the teacher had molested the girl in August last year and repeated the act in April this year.
Following the complaint, police registered a case.
As news of the incident spread, parents of other children studying at the school staged a protest outside the school in the afternoon. They called off the protest after the police convinced them about taking appropriate action in the case.
