New Delhi: A man allegedly killed his wife with a sickle for not being able to give birth to a son in Kolhapur on Friday.

30 year old Waghmare had married Rani in 2004 and had five daughters.  

The vicim's brother reported that Waghmare used to torture Rani from the past few years for not having a son.

According to the police, one of the couple's daughters first saw Rani lying in a pool of blood.

Later on,  the victim's father informed the neighbors and called the cops.

Waghmare was found sitting near Rani's blood soaked body.

The police have arrested the accused and have seized the sickle and clothes soaked in blood from the house.

According to the postmortem report, Rani died because of several injuries inflicted on her body and excessive bleeding.

A local court has remanded Waghmare in police custody till December 5.
