New Delhi: Crime Branch of Surat Police has arrested Gujarati film actress Deepika Trivedi and her four associates from Surat for duping more than 150 youths in name of marriage.

All fours are identified as Sanjay Darji (38), Jigya (38), wife of Sanjay, Pratiksha Vasava (23) and Kamini Patel (37).

Acting on a tip off, the police had on Wednesday raided Punagam area in city and arrested them.

The gang, according to police, was active from last six years and all five have duped nearly 150 youths.

Sanajy and his wife Jigya, said to be the kingpin of the entire episode, were running this gang by portraying it as a marriage bureau, police said.

They were in habit of first contacting unmarried youths and fixing their appointment with girls. Later, they ask for money saying the girl belongs to a poor family and thus can't bare the expense of marriage.

Police also said that several married and unmarried women were involved in the gang as they used this as a medium to make quick money.
