Fake Indian currency worth over Rs 25 lakh recovered in Meerut

Meerut: Uttar Pradesh police has arrested a man having a possession of fake Indian currency notes with a face value of Rs 25 lakhs. The convict is a resident of West Bengal.

According to the police sources, the smuggler Akhtar Hussain was caught in Noorganj area under Brahmapur police station today. From him the police have recovered 1657 fake currency of Rs 1000 denomination and 1500 of Rs 500 with total of Rs 25 lakh.

The accused, during the interrogation, revealed that he brought the fake currency from Malda in West Bengal and was about to deliver it in Meerut.
