Elderly woman murdered in Delhi

New Delhi: An elderly woman was found dead and her residence ransacked by unidentified persons at Keshavpuram in Northwest Delhi.

According to police, robbers used a pair of cutters to open a locker in the house. They decamped with Rs 7.5 lakh in cash.

The incident had taken place on Saturday.

The victim, identified as Malti, lived with her husband Mahesh Chandra Mishra at their two-bedroom flat in DDA apartments at Keshavpuram.

Police said that Malti's husband reached home at about 6 pm. He rang the doorbell several times but no response was received. He contacted his son Manoj, who owns a jewellery and an electronics showrooms in Karol Bagh area.

Upon his arrival, the door was opened with another key. They found Malti's body in the storeroom and the house robbed.

A case of murder and robbery has been registered at Keshavpuram police station.
