New Delhi: Designer Pernia Qureshi on her return from Bangkok was on Monday detained at Delhi airport on charge of duty evasion.

She had brought 16 designer handbags worth nearly Rs 35 lakhs in her check-in baggage and did not declare them at the Customs, officials said.

Qureshi may have to pay Rs 10 lakhs as customs duty for the bags, which are now in the custody of Customs.

The designer came to Indira Gandhi International Airport by Thai Airways flight no TG 315 on Monday.
