New Delhi, Aug 7: Delhi Police is yet to “find any evidence” against former Haryana Minister Gopal Kanda, who is accused of abetting his former woman employee's suicide, even as it issued notice to two of his workers to join the probe.

A former air hostess with Kanda's now defunct MDLR airline, 23-year-old Geetika Sharma allegedly committed suicide on Sunday and in her suicide note had accused the former Haryana Minister and MDLR official Aruna Chaddha of harassing her.

The family demanded a CBI inquiry into the case and wanted the former minister to be arrested soon.

“We have issued notices to Chaddha and another colleague Ankit Alhuwalia to join the probe. Alhuwalia's name cropped up during investigations,” P Karunakaran, Deputy Commissioner of Police (North-West), told reporters.

Police have registered a case of abetment to suicide against Kanda and Chaddha on the basis of the suicide note.

Asked why they were not issuing notice to Kanda, he said, “as of now there is no evidence (to link him with the incident). As and when some evidence crops up, we will do what has to be done.”

Asked why police was not arresting the former minister, he said, “We can't say that and when there is evidence, we will do whatever is needed”.

He said the investigation is progressing based on the evidence collected besides the suicide note which was recovered from the spot on Sunday.

Geetika's mobile phone, laptop and a few other articles have been seized, he said, adding the victim's family has been provided with security. Police is awaiting the post mortem report, he said.

Geetika's brother Ankit said they want justice and demanded a CBI probe into the case.

“My sister called me on Sunday at 1:15 AM and told me that Kanda and Chaddha were driving her mad. She just said this line. She was afraid that Kanda will harm us,” Ankit told reporters.

He alleged that Kanda wanted Geetika to sign a bond through which she would get sponsorship for her MBA but she would have to work in his company without pay.

“My sister did not sign the bond. Kanda and Chaddha pressurised her to sign the document,” he alleged.

BJP-HJC demands CBI probe into former air hostess suicide case Chandigarh, Aug 7 (PTI) Opposition BJP and Haryana Janhit Congress today demanded a CBI probe into the case of alleged suicide of a former air hostess in which a former Haryana Minister has been booked.

Arguing that former minister Gopal Kanda might use his political clout to escape the law, a delegation of senior leaders from the two parties met Governor Jagannath Pahadia and submitted a memorandum demanding immediate dismissal of the Bhupinder Singh Hooda government in the wake of a “series of scandals that have rocked the government”.

“We also demanded that Kanda's membership as MLA should be terminated. We also want a CBI probe into the abetment to suicide case to ensure a fair probe because the accused may try to use his clout to influence the police.

“We also want a DNA test to be conducted on Kanda with regard to the allegations that have been made by the victim in her suicide note,” former Ambala MP and BJP's state unit spokesman, Rattan Lal Kataria said.

23-year-old former air hostess Geetika Sharma, who quit Kanda's company recently, allegedly committed suicide at her Ashok Vihar residence in north-west Delhi, depressed over continuing mental harassment allegedly by 46-year-old Kanda.

Kanda, an independent MLA from Sirsa, resigned as Haryana's Minister of State for Home Affairs, Urban Bodies and Industry and Commerce, on Sunday evening.
