New Delhi: Delhi Police today claimed it had cracked the case relating to an acid attack on a woman doctor on Tuesday morning in Rajouri Garden.

Four persons, including Dr Ashok Yadav, the male friend of the victim, one accused Vaibhav and two juveniles, have been arrested. The lady doctor's bag has been recovered and the motorbike used by the assailants has been seied.

Joint Commissioner of Police Tejinder Luthra told mediapersons today that the syringe used for spurting acid at the victim's face has also been seized.

Luthra said, Dr Ashok Yadav knew the lady victim, and was furious when he learnt that a prospective groom's family was going to come and discuss about her wedding.

Police said, the conspirator also planned to throw acid on the victim on Dec 17, but failed. Dr Yadav had promised to give Rs 25,000 as supari money to three persons, including two juveniles, Luthra said.

The assailant Vaibhav used to work in a call centre and had also worked with Dr Yadav, who wanted to marry the victim, who refused. The lady victim had never dreamt that her male friend would resort to an acid attack.  As a qualified doctor, who had also worked in Tihar jail, Dr Yadav had access to dangerous acids.

Police said, Dr Yadav got the plan executed on Dec 23, because the prospective groom was going to come the next day. The victim had mentioned this to her female friends, and Dr Yadav came to know about it.

Luthra said, Dr Yadav went to the scene of crime, soon after the attack, and took the victim first to the ESI Hospital, and later got her admitted to AIIMS.

The assailants, police said, initially told Dr Yadav that they could carry out a hit-and-run road mishap to kill the victim, but the doctor told them that he only "wanted to teach her a lesson".

In police custody today, when mediapersons  asked him whether he was ready to take responsibility of the victim in future, Dr Yadav said, he was ready to marry her.
