Damini's childhood memories are intact in her parents' eyes. While recalling the moment she was born, her father says "we used to make her sleep in between. Her mother used to guard her on one side and I used to sleep on the other. Her innocent actions as toddler used to bring smiles on our face".
With tears in her eyes, her mother says, "when she turned a month old, she fell sick. The family income was merely Rs. 500, yet we spent Rs. 23,000 on her treatment. We regret that day now. How we wish she should have died then, at least we wouldn't have to go through this pain now".
While recollecting the time when she was admitted to a school, Damini's mother says, "we got her admitted to a school in the month of January. She could only study for two months, yet after appearing for her exams in March she scored full marks. While going out of the house, she used to wave at us with a smile, that moment used to bring tears in my eyes. I never wanted her to let go of her" .
