Chennai: A class 10th student, who allegedly raped and murdered a minor girl in Vellore district of Tamil Nadu was arrested today.

The accused was brought to Vellore by the police for interrogation. The police claimed that he was hiding in Hosur town of Krishnagiri district.

The victim was a class 6 student. Her body was found dumped in a mango orchard. She had been brutally beaten and there were deep cut injuries on her throat. Her legs and hands were tied.

Both the accused and the victim were students of Government High School in Vellore.

The victim was last seen on Monday at around 1 pm accompanied by the accused while they were returning home after appearing for an examination at their school.

 Vellore police is yet to find out the reason behind the crime.
