New Delhi: In a daylight heist pulled off with clinical precision, unidentified armed men today robbed a businessman of nearly Rs eight crore in the busy Lajpat Nagar area of South Delhi in broad day light when he was driving to a bank to deposit the money.

The robbery which is probably the largest ever in the national capital in terms of money involved was carried out in a matter of minutes and without a drop of blood being shed.

Police said around five to six armed men intercepted property dealer Rakesh Kalra's Honda City car near Lajpat Nagar Metro station around 9 AM and fled with the vehicle and cash.

Kalra, who is a resident of Kaljaji, was going from his Greater Kailash I office to Karol Bagh to deposit the cash in a bank along with his driver Subodh and three other associates.

When their car reached near Lajpat Nagar Metro Station, a silver Wagon R, bearing UP registration number, overtook them and suddenly stopped right in front of his car causing a collision.

Occupants of both the car came out and a heated argument ensued. While they started an altercation, a white Hyundai Verna, bearing Haryana registration number reached the spot.

Around three to four persons alighted from the car and trained their guns at Kalra and his associates and held them captive, police said.
